During the General Election campaign in 2017, I was invited to an I’m One hustings hosted by The National Autistic Society Enfield Branch. During the hustings, I was struck by the experiences of long waits for a diagnosis and committed to raise the issue in Parliament if elected.
In September 2017, I held my first Westminster Hall debate on Autism Diagnosis. Over 30 MPs joined the debate to call on the Government to record and publish Autism diagnosis waiting times and we were successful in getting a commitment from the Health Minister, Jackie Doyle-Price MP that the Government would record and publish waiting times from April 2018.
