About Bambos

___

I am the Labour MP for Southgate and Wood Green.

I was first elected as the Labour MP for Enfield Southgate in June 2017 and re-elected in December 2019. I am the first MP elected for the new constituency of Southgate and Wood Green at the 2024 General Election. Before my parliamentary career began, I was a solicitor and worked for Hackney Council on their housing litigation team for 16 years.

I was the first MP whose parents are both from Cyprus. I was born in London and raised in Bowes Park. I love Enfield – I grew up here and many of my friends and family live in the area.

As a child, I went to St Michael at Bowes Junior school, where I am now a school governor. I was a councillor for Palmers Green ward for 24 years – the place that has been my home for most of my life.

Before entering Parliament, I was Enfield Council’s cabinet member for Leisure, Culture, Localism and Young People.

I have previously sat on Labour’s frontbench as the Shadow Immigration Minister and Shadow Foreign Office Minister for the Middle East and North Africa.

I will always speak up for Southgate and Wood Green in Parliament and campaign on the issues that matter to you.
