Boris Johnson’s resignation is welcome but long overdue for a man who has presided over sleaze and scandal at every turn.
The Conservatives have overseen 12 years of economic stagnation, declining public services and empty promises. We are now stuck with a government that isn’t functioning.
The problems run much deeper than one individual. The public are facing a worsening cost of living crisis, yet due to this Conservative chaos we now face months without a functioning government all the while ordinary peoples’ wages are being stretched week by week by spiralling prices.
We now need a fresh start for Britain that a Labour government will provide.
