The Health and Care Bill returned to the House of Commons for consideration of amendments taken in the Lords.
One of these amendments related to Charlie’s Law – which will change the law to ensure parents & clinicians are supported when deciding treatment options for their critically ill children. I originally tabled Charlie’s Law as a private members’ bill in March 2020.
The Government chose not to adopt Charlie’s Law but did accept an independent review of parent-doctor disputes within one year – and it’s crucial this review consults the medical community and charities like the Charlie Gard Foundation.
