It was incredibly moving to speak in the debate today on the legacy of Jo Cox.

I never knew Jo, but I do know from colleagues across Parliament that she epitomised the good in all of us and inspired us to be kinder, fairer and more compassionate to each other and our communities.

During the debate, I raised the issue of loneliness. Jo was passionate about tackling loneliness & this issue has increased during the pandemic, affecting many including refugees separated from families & loved ones due to persecution, war or poverty.

We must continue to take Jo’s lead on this issue and tackle loneliness as we emerge from the Covid-19 pandemic and deliver positive change in our communities, for refugees and all of those affected by loneliness.
