It was great to visit Jordan as part of a delegation of UK MPs organised by the British Group Inter-Parliamentary Union.

In Amman, we had a number of productive meetings with Jordanian parliamentarians and officials, including the UK Ambassador, the Speaker of the House of Representatives, and it was great to meet the Jordanian Foreign Minister to discuss the UK’s relationship with Jordan and my role as Labour’s Shadow Middle East Minister.

We then visited the Jabal Hussein Co-Education school with the UN Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) and the Za’atari UNHCR refugee camp. It was very moving, and I especially enjoyed meeting with young Palestinian refugee students and hearing about the important UN work being undertaken in Jordan.

I look forward to continuing to promote strong ties between the UK and Jordan as Shadow Middle East Minister.
