The Conservatives held a vote of confidence in Boris Johnson, and while the Prime Minister won the vote, 148 of his own MPs voted against him. This is a terrible result and shows he has effectively lost the confidence of his backbenchers.
It’s a worse result than Thatcher in 1990; worse than May in 2018; and worse than Major in 1995.
Boris Johnson is a dead man walking, but the Conservatives have chosen to ignore the British public and hitched themselves and their party firmly to him and all he represents. They have no plan to tackle the issues we are facing in this country, and I believe the Government will continue to lurch from one scandal to another under his leadership.
