As Shadow Middle East Minister, I spoke in a Westminster Hall Debate on the conflict in Yemen and children’s rights, as Save The Children estimates that 11 million children in Yemen are in dire need of humanitarian assistance.

Children in Yemen face acute malnutrition, displacement and disease, with the near collapse of the health system. During the debate, I outlined how we all share a responsibility to address this dreadful situation. The UK has a unique role to play on Yemen, as the penholder for Yemen on the UN Security Council, and I urged the Minster to commit to protecting children’s rights, because we cannot sit back and allow a generation of children in Yemen to have their childhoods stolen.
