As the humanitarian crisis continues following the earthquakes in Turkey and Syria, it was deeply moving to speak in Parliament this week about the tragedy that is unfolding in the region.

Two weeks have passed since the earthquakes first hit, and humanitarian needs continue to escalate as the scale of the devastation is brought to light. My thoughts continue to be with all those impacted by this tragedy, including people in Enfield Southgate with family and friends in the region.

Syria is now a crisis within a crisis.

One of the world’s most vulnerable populations, who have endured 12 years of brutal conflict, now face further desperation. We must not turn our back on millions who were already in catastrophic conditions before natural disaster struck.
