The UK has a duty to promote peace, the rule of international law and human rights. Recognising Palestinian statehood alongside a safe and secure Israel would be an important step towards achieving these objectives.
As Shadow Minister for the Middle East and North Africa, I was pleased to outline Labour’s position in Thursday’s debate and affirm our commitment to a negotiated, diplomatic settlement to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict based on two states: a safe and secure Israel, alongside a viable and sovereign Palestinian state.
