Privacy Policy

As the MP for Enfield Southgate, my staff and I keep in touch with constituents about my work, to take up casework on their behalf and to ask for views on local issues.

This Privacy Notice explains how I will collect and use personal data, the legal basis for doing so and provides information about your rights in respect of your personal data. As holder of that data I am called the Data Controller.

I manage your data in line with responsibilities under the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR), as supplemented by the Data Protection Act 2018.

Data collection and use

The office of Bambos Charalambous MP will only collect and use personal information for the specific purpose for which it has been obtained.

Policy enquiries and casework (personal problems) enquiries bring with them information provided by a constituent and/or on behalf of a constituent.

It may be necessary for my office to share your information with third party organisations. This will only be shared when it is necessary and reasonable to do so. My office will share only the minimum amount of personal information necessary to ensure that an enquiry is handled efficiently or to advocate on your behalf.

How we collect your personal data

Where you provide personal information, it will only be used for the services you requested.

My office will collect your personal data when you:

  • contact the office with an enquiry or about a campaign.
  • respond to surveys, questionnaires, or evaluations.
  • participate in a surgery.
  • agree to receive communications such as newsletters or social media subscriptions.
  • submit information to register for an event.

When registering with this website or by completing a form or survey sent to you by my office, you may be asked for personal information. In each case, I will ask for your explicit consent to use your information, and I will only use it for the purposes for which you provide it.

I may communicate by post, email, phone, or text message about my work and to give you the latest news on my campaigns and opportunities to get involved. I have a legal entitlement to the full electoral register for my constituency, which includes the full name and address of every registered elector, and I may write to you in connection with my activities as an MP.

I will only send emails, texts or contact you by telephone where you have provided explicit consent for me to do so. You may withdraw your consent or unsubscribe at any time from communications in any medium by contacting me as the Data Controller or by using the unsubscribe option I provide in all communications.

I will not use personal data for any automated decision making or profiling.

Who I will share your information with:

When I take up casework on your behalf, it may be necessary for me to share the details you provide with government departments, local authorities, and other public bodies. I will only share as much information as is necessary to take your case forward. If you have any questions or concerns about how information you provide as part of a casework request is used, please contact me as the Data Controller for more information.

Other than in the circumstances above, I will not share personal information with other organisations without your explicit consent.

To communicate with you about my work as the MP for the Enfield Southgate constituency, it may be necessary for me to transfer personal information to countries or jurisdictions outside the EU. In each case, I will take steps to ensure that the suppliers used comply with the General Data Protection Regulation or are subject to the Privacy Shield scheme agreed between the European Union and the United States.

How long do we keep your data for?

I will only keep your personal data for as long as is necessary for the purpose it was collected and to fulfil the purposes described in this policy. All personal data is collected on a secure electronic system. Any paper documents supplied to me are scanned onto the electronic system in the data subject’s file and securely destroyed or returned to the ‘data subject’ in the post, if return has been requested. There are no paper records kept in my office.  You are advised to retain your own copies of correspondence, should you wish to keep a record of your case. 

I may retain information about closed cases if you contact me again for help.  I may delete information that I consider repetitive to hold minimal personal data. Personal data will be disposed of securely.

Cases will be kept for a maximum of two years after the last meaningful contact between my office and a constituent. Cases will only be kept beyond two years if I have reason to keep the file or if the constituent has asked that case is retained.

If you have consented to receive information about my work, I will only retain your personal information so long as I am the MP for the Enfield Southgate constituency, or you ask not to be contacted further.

I will regularly review the personal information I hold to ensure that its use is necessary and proportionate.

Website and social media policy

IP Address and Cookies

My website does not automatically capture or store personal information, other than logging the user’s IP Address or the location of your computer or network on the Internet, for systems administration and troubleshooting purposes.  I will also use IP addresses in the aggregate to track which pages people visit in order to improve the quality of the site.

A cookie is a tiny text file that is stored on your computer. Cookies may be used to tailor your experience on this site according to the preferences you have specified. Cookies on this website do not contain personally identifiable information, other than your IP address, which itself is only very rarely enough to identify you as an individual.

This website contains links to other websites. Bambos Charalambous MP is not responsible for the content or privacy practices of these websites.

Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service.

Social Media Platforms

Communication, engagement, and actions taken through external social media platforms that this office, website and its owners participate on are custom to the terms and conditions as well as the privacy policies held with each social media platform respectively.

Users are advised to use social media platforms wisely and communicate / engage upon them with due care and caution regarding their own privacy and personal details. I will not ask for personal or sensitive information through social media platforms and encourage users wishing to discuss personal matters to use primary communication channels such as by email or telephone.

This website may use social sharing buttons which help share web content directly from web pages to the social media platform in question. Users are advised before using such social sharing buttons that they do so at their own discretion and note that the social media platform may track and save your request to share a web page respectively through your social media platform account. Pixel codes are used to promote my work from this website onto social media platforms.

Your rights

You have several rights in relation to your personal information and the opportunity to choose how it is used. You can:

  • Obtain copies of the personal information I hold about you (known as a “subject access request”).
  • Request that I correct or update any personal information held about you.
  • Ask that we delete or restrict the way in which I use your information.
  • Request that personal information you have given your consent for me to use is provided in an electronic format so it can be transferred to another data controller (also known as “data portability”).
