Many people have contacted me about the UK’s response to the refugee and humanitarian crisis in Ukraine. I share the anger felt by many. The Home Office’s chaotic response has badly let down desperate Ukrainian people in their hour of need.
Families fleeing conflict in Ukraine need urgent help right now to reach safety and get support, and Labour is calling for a quick, simple and safe route to sanctuary for all who need it.
I was also pleased to join the Red Cross and The Voices Network in Parliament to hear from those with first hand experience of our asylum system and reaffirm my commitment to supporting refugee and asylum seekers’ rights.
