The past two years have been incredibly difficult for children with special educational needs and disabilities, and I’ve spoken to constituents who face enormous challenges getting their children the support they need.

In my latest Enfield Dispatch column, I’m raising awareness about the pandemic’s impact on support for children with SEND.

According to the Disabled Children’s Partnership, nearly three quarters of disabled children saw their progress managing their condition regress during the pandemic.

At the same time, families in Enfield are having to fight for support because of delays and shortages of resources – and like many issues affecting local authorities, this comes down to a lack of funding from central government.

The Conservative Government needs to start listening to the concerns of families who feel let down by inconsistent support for their children.
