As Shadow Immigration Minister, I was in Parliament to hear the Home Secretary’s statement on the deaths of more than 20 people in the Channel this week. It’s clear that we need to take a new approach to fix the asylum system, which has been broken by over a decade of Conservative government.
I also spoke to Shelagh Fogarty on LBC about the need to end the inflammatory and unhelpful rhetoric the Conservatives use when discussing immigration and asylum issues.
