I’m delighted to support the campaign to commemorate pilots and navigators from the Photographic Reconnaissance Units (PRU), who served in highly dangerous, clandestine operations during WW2.
This includes two local heroes Ronald Atkinson and Ralph Metcalf who served in exceptionally difficult conditions, and ultimately gave their lives in service of our country.
Despite having one of the lowest survival rates of the war, there is no national memorial to the PRU, and I’m supporting the Spitfire AA810 Project to establish this memorial, for unsung heroes like Ronald and Ralph.
