The Government has finally shelved its shambolic proposals to close train station ticket offices across the country.

Over the summer, I campaigned alongside many of you to oppose these damaging plans, which would have seen 5 ticket offices in our constituency closed. I am delighted that common sense has prevailed.

Back in July, I shared my concerns that closing our local train station ticket offices would be devastating for passengers, jobs and safety. The proposals outlined would have seen 5 ticket offices in our constituency closed, including Hadley Wood, Enfield Chase, Grange Park, Winchmore Hill and Palmers Green.

I also responded to the London Travelwatch consultation on behalf of constituents, raising the huge public concern about this issue, including around accessibility and access to the rail network for vulnerable people. You can find my full response here to the consultation here: https://www.bambos.org.uk/consultation-response-on-train-station-ticket-offices/

The strength of feeling in our community, and across the country, was clear.

I am therefore delighted these damaging plans have now been dropped. Thank you to all the constituents who raised their concerns with me and everyone who campaigned on this important issue.
