Lots of constituents have been getting in touch with me recently about the Renters Reform Bill.
I have long supported calls for more rights and better protections for tenants, including a ban on Section 21 ‘no fault’ evictions – of which Enfield has the highest rate in the whole of London – to prevent renters from being uprooted with little notice and minimal justification.
I believe we need to fundamentally reform the sector to tilt the balance of power towards renters and make renting fairer, more secure and more affordable.
The Government committed to introducing reforms four years ago. These delays have real-world consequences and I am pleased this Bill is finally progressing through its parliamentary stages.
