The Tories have crashed the economy and are now threatening to make pensioners pay the price by breaking the triple lock.

The last 12 years of the Conservatives have left us with a weak economy and a cost-of-living crisis – and after September’s mini budget, the Tories are now being forced to consider massive spending cuts and breaking the triple lock on state pensions.

It is not fair that pensioners should be forced to pay the price for Tory mismanagement of the economy.

I voted – alongside Labour colleagues – to protect pensioners who have worked hard all their lives and deserve financial security and dignity in retirement. Conservative MPs, on the other hand, abstained.
