For World Water Day I joined Jim McMahon, the Shadow Environment Secretary, and Feargal Sharkey from The Undertones, to back Labour’s plans to clean up the Tory sewage scandal. For too long the Tories have let private companies use our rivers and seas as dumping grounds.

This is another issue that I have had lots of emails on, as people are really frustrated about the lack of progress by the government in tackling sewage pollution.

I believe we need to take on polluters, with tougher sanctions for failing water bosses, automatic fines and mandatory monitoring, and an end to systematic discharges by 2030.
